Yes I am afraid it is true, I remember an article I read from last year and some chippies in Scotland do indeed do deep fried Mars Bars served in fact with a side order of fries, but if you cant face a deep fried Mars Bar do you know that you can also choose between a Deep fried banana, or a deep fried Pizza, a deep fried Snickers bar and the well known delicacy a deep fried pickled egg.... calorie laden and artery clogging or what!

This is true, and is neither limited to Scotland or to Mars Bars. I myself have had a battered Snickers from an English chippy, and have seen battered Creme Eggs sold around easter.

This is absolutely true and its not just Scotland. I am from Hull a city in Yorkshire in the North of England where the deep fried mars bar is also popular, it is fairly common in the north, but I have also seen them on the menu in Torquay on the south coast. When the craze started about ten years ago people were deep frying all sorts of confectionery and amongst my favourites was the deep fried cream egg, and plain chocolate bounty. People would buy the chocolate and take it to the chips shop and ask the cook to dip it in the batter and fry it, until you try it you have no idea how great it tastes, but its not so good for the waist line alas it seems only the mars bar has endured this craze, but I highly recommend it!

Unfortunately they sell them here in Australia as well. I think the best description I ever heard was someone ordering one from the counter and the person taking the order yelled to the kitchen "one quad bypass please"
