Mrs Elaine Worsdale
I was taking Fosomax when I had a tooth extracted over 8 months ago.I went back to the dentist because I was in considerable pain, he said I should come off the Fosomax, because that was causing the problem. I did, and I have now been off the drug for more than 4 months but I am still suffering a considerable amount of pain. I returned to the dentist and he didn't seem to know why this was the case. Is there anything that you can suggest to help?

"Alendronic Acid" has guidelines for usage. You may not use vitamin supplements or take extra calcium while on this drug. You have to swallow them using tap water not mineral water etc.

My initial thought then is that the drug hasn't totally left you body and that you have not followed these guidelines in some way, obviously I'm not saying that you are stupid or that you have done something wrong but I am saying is that you may need to get a blood test to see if an imbalance has occurred which maybe prolonging your discomfort.

Have a chat with your doctor and see if he can shed any light but i suspect that my comments above will steer you in the right direction and you will hopefully start to feel better soon.
