Varies from person to person. The 'average' is said to be 8 hours, but many people ( Margaret Thatcher for instance ) never sleep for longer than 3 or 4 hours. Also varies with age and health.

Hello there,
The "accepted" norm is about 7-8 hours a night for most healthy people between the ages of 30-55, give or take. Under those ages then they don't know what the word means and over those ages they tend to cat nap more so needing less sleep at night. Anything outside these indicators may need further investigation.
