How soon can you fly after a general anaesthetic?

Was tempted to ask if this was a known side-effect but ....
BA says .... "Flying following surgery to the chest, abdomen or middle ear is usually inadvisable for 10 to 14 days. Any other procedure where air or gas is introduced into the body also needs careful consideration. This is because air retained in body cavities expands in flight."
Also if it is orthopaedic surgery you might want to wait up to 3 months to avoid DVT risk.
Ears - seems to be about a month as a general consensus.
You should ask you surgeon and anaesthetist - they should be best placed to advise, knowing the surgery and drugs you'll be receiving.
Good Luck - I hope you heal quickly.

I'm so sorry you feel like this, but please, please don't do anything, it's not worth harming yourself.
Where are you friends? Are they not helping you deal with this? Family? Or are you just not opening up to them?
For whatever reason your boyfriend has decided you shouldn't be together any more, and I'm afraid you have no choice but to accept that. After doing this too you and treating you so coldly - is he really the person you are in love with? Is he really the man you knew? Is he worth it - this man who could treat you so badly???
Even if you do persuade him that he should come back, how will you feel - won't you be wondering if he'll go again?
You need to get angry with him for wasting your time, for leading you on, for whatever reason - not wretched with yourself. You know you can love, you know you can remain loyal and loving - you've proved that.
It's still very early in your breakup, but soon you'll get to a point where you will value your dignity in how you deal with this, I know at the minute your dignity doesn't matter and you'd walk naked over coals if you thought it'd get him back, but in the long run, you'll be happier if you can look back and think you acquitted yourself well.
And phone the Samaritans if you feel suicidal - they are a wonderful organisation and they'll make a difference.
I hope you make the call if you need to. I hope you feel better soon. I KNOW you will find love again, a love fully reciprocated and life lasting.

Best questions to ask a new love interest?

Ask about what they do, places they've been, things they like to do. Asking questions is important - you use it as your source of information - but it's vital for you to listen to what's being said and respond to it. That way they'll know you're interested - there's nothing better than hearing "That sounds interesting" or "Tell me more about ..."
Picking items from your surroundings is a useful way to spark a conversation, the weather, the wallpaper, the waiter - whatever, just keep it light, keep it friendly and listen.
Good Luck!
Comments :
I am looking for something more in depth. We are already interested and are seeing each other exclusively. We are past the "keeping it light " phase I want to know how to tell if we are compatible and he is of solid character. Thanks

Try reading this..... http://health.ivillage.com/skin/sknails/0,,6hbv,00.html
doesnt look like there's anything that really works that's natural. The article mentions boric acid application - but not too favourably.
Comments :
This was actually quite a good article in that it's very informative about the nature of commonly known nail infections.

I was exposed to freon 22, almost passed out. I now have sensations of numbness of my skin. My mouth feels as if I have had a penny in my mouth, mild headache for 1 month, skin tingles. I seem to feel hot and cold at the same time?

Depends how much you were exposed to I suppose but I would go to see a doctor, to be on the safe side.

I don't think there's a lot you can do without causing a lot of trouble - but maybe a lot of trouble is just what's required here? You don't mention if you are married to her sister, or she's married to your brother but either way here, there's a sibling and spouse who is totally in the dark about the nature of the other party.
Everyone gets the odd crush, that can be very intense but usually short lived as long as it's not fuelled by any reciprocation. Can you put distance between the two of you - avoid her for the next while? Can you threaten to expose her feelings, point out what you have both got to lose?
Lastly - you say she gets very upset when you tell her it needs to stop - how upset would your brother/wife be if they knew of their wife's/sisters real feelings???
Good luck - nightmare scenario. Once had my ex-husbands best friend doing the same, eventually got rid of him by threatening to expose him. With him I'm pretty sure it was more the power struggle between him and his best friend rather that was at the root cause, rather than me.

I agree with the previous answer - you need to try and persuade her to see a doctor or her health visitor about post natal depression. PND can happen any time after birth and vary greatly in severity.
Even if she's not got PND, she could be feeling trapped by the baby, not because she doesn't love the baby, but because she misses her old life. She may - too - be worried about her body and the changes it might of gone through making her self esteem low.
It's supposed to be such a happy time, one which every woman longs for, but if she's finding it difficult ( like 100's of 1000's of other women ) it can make her feel like a failure - even a freak for not feeling 100% happy.
Good luck - I hope you work it out.

In the poem 'Catrin' by Gillian Clarke, what does she mean by the word 'child' on the first line?

I think by using the word child she is reminding the daughter - and maybe herself - of their relationship. She's saying "You're still young, listen to me, listen to my wisdom" and she's saying to herself "She's still a child, the child you carried, let her be. "
I can remember you, child,
as I stood in a hot, white
room at the window watching
the people and cars taking
turn at the traffic lights.
I can remember you, our first
fierce confrontation, the tight
red rope of love which we both
fought over. It was square
environmental blank, disinfected
of paintings or toys. I wrote
all over the walls with my
words, coloured the clean squares
with the wild, tender circles
of our struggle to become
separate. We want, we shouted,
to be two, to be ourselves.
Neither won nor lost the struggle
in the glass tank clouded with feelings
which changed us both. Still I am fighting
you off, as you stand there
with your straight, strong, long
defiant glare, bringing up
from the heart's pool that old rope,
tightening about my life,
trailing love and conflict,
as you ask may you skate
in the dark, for one more hour.

I have been friends with a man for 15 years, we recently become intimate for the first time and have a few times since, we both have feelings for each other but have had a fall out over something totally different. I have been stupid since I kept texting him to make up and when he didn't respond I would get abit nasty, I didn't mean to but got hurt by his lack of response, need to know what to do before I really lose him for good? thank you.

I think you should talk to him directly - not by text. There is no emotion that adequately covers real human feelings! Maybe write to him, if you can't face him yet. Explain why you were nasty, maybe you need to open up about why you'd react like that ( have you been hurt before my rejection for example ).Tell him that you really don't want to lose him and then I'm afraid you'll have to leave it up to him. Maybe you should explore too the totally different thing you fell out over, if you could explain your point on that one too he might appreciate it, especially if you could concede a bit to his point?
Good luck 15 years friendship is a lot to lose, I hope he forgives you and that you can rebuild your trust with each other.

If you are on HRT can/should you take herbal supplements such as Agnus Castus or Black Cohosh?
|
|
Discuss this question
|
| Question found in Women's Health |
 |
If you are on HRT there should be no need to take either Agnus Castus or Black Cohosh - both of which have the effect of regulating the menstrual cycle. The HRT should be combating any menopausal symptoms you are having, flushes and mood swings, so there should be no need to take anything else. Maybe you should be going back to your GP and telling him that the HRT isn't getting rid of your symptoms?
Comments :
Thanks - I was thinkin the same myself
