See http://www.gatorade.com/formula_and_nutrition_info/
It's supposed to rehydrate the body quicker than water due to the composition of the drink.
They claim......
Gatorade Thirst Quencher has been scientifically formulated to provide athletes an optimal choice for hydration before, during and after training and competition. The specific formulation – which has been tested and retested in numerous lab settings since 1965 – contains four key components:
Electrolytes
Gatorade Thirst Quencher contains a blend of lab-tested electrolytes – sodium, potassium and chloride – to replenish the minerals athletes lose through sweat during exercise and competition. Electrolytes help regulate a number of body functions, and athletes with a substantial electrolyte deficit may experience muscle cramping, heat stress and fatigue. In addition to replacing what is lost through sweat, the electrolytes in Gatorade trigger activation of the body’s thirst mechanism, encouraging athletes to fully hydrate themselves.
Flavor
Studies have shown people are apt to hydrate themselves more completely with flavored beverages as opposed to unflavored water. Each Gatorade flavor endures a rigorous array of tests to ensure that its great taste falls within a range that encourages athletes to adequately hydrate themselves, regardless of their perceived hydration needs, which can often be misleading.
Carbohydrates
During lab tests, the 6% carbohydrate solution in Gatorade (14 grams per 8 oz) has repeatedly demonstrated itself to be the optimal percentage for speeding fluid and energy back into the body. The right mix of glucose, sucrose and fructose assures rapid fluid delivery and use of carbohydrates by the body. Higher concentrations of carbohydrates or carbohydrate mixes different from Gatorade have been shown to actually slow overall fluid absorption, and they do not produce better performance.
Maximized Fluid Osmolality
Research shows that with the right types and amounts of carbohydrates, fluid absorption occurs as quickly as water as long as the osmolality (particle content of the fluid) is close to that of blood (280 mOsm/kg). Gatorade features a 6% carbohydrate formula that ranges between 280 and 340 mOsm/kg, enabling Gatorade to promote faster fluid absorption than other sports drinks with higher carbohydrate concentrations and osmolality levels.

My 8yr old keeps showing his penis to his little sister.

Does you son know 'the facts of life' yet? If not, I'd suggest it was time he should know what his penis is for. Have you asked him why he does it? Does he do it in private, or as part of play? Is your daughter's reaction the thng he likes - how does she react? Does he do it to anyone else? At school? If it's only in the home, to his sister and as part of other interaction, then I don't think you need to worry.
If you are concerned about someone else behaving inappropriately towards him, you could ask whether anyone has shown theirs to him. You'll need to ask very catiously though. As you know children are very suggestible, very eager to please their parents and can give you an answer they think you might want rather than the truth.
I would try not to worry, but definitely keep an eye on him. ALthough 8 is a little old for this behaviour, every matures in different aspects of life at different rates. It's easier said than done when it comes to our children - not to worry that is - good luck.

My friend just found out she has genital warts. I was just wondering if there was any way to permanently remove them?

Yes, there are a number of treatments that will take away the warts. Unfortunately the virus remains in the skin and will come back - maybe years later.

Until you are 16 in the UK you need to be in the care of your own parents or carers.
If there is some problem at home that makes it difficult for you to stay there - please call Childline, approach a school counsellor or grandparents, aunts or uncles.
Don't get into the position that it's either staying at home or leaving without permission - too many things can go wrong.
Call 0800 1111 or check out their website http://www.childline.org.uk/.

Lately something strange has been going on with my body.. I'm a 27 year old female with four children. After my fourth son I had a tubal sterilization. Last month my period lasted one day and was heavy enough to soak several pads at once. I experienced a lot of pain and it was mainly in the pit of my stomach and in my lower back. I also experienced light headiness and vomiting. This month my period came early and had the same effect. I know it's not pregnancy because I had a tubal sterilization performed.

I would go and see your doctor. It is possible - as the previous answer says - that you may have be pregnant - the sooner you find out the better. There are many things that can cause abnormal flow and pain - but they all should be checked out. It must be frightening to lose so much blood, not to mention the inconvenience of it as well as the pain - especially having four children to look after! Get yourself checked out - there's no need to put up with pain.

If you share parents - or even one parent - you will be too closely related for it to be legal ( in most countries ) for you to live together or have children.
Cousins, it's legal but closer than cousins - ie sharing a parent - it's not.
Breeding too closely within the same family can cause genetic traits to come to the fore - ones that would have been 'dormant' or submissive if there was a wider gene pool to chose from.
Countless times over the generations, people sharing one or both parents have fallen in wittingly in love and had children together, without mishap. In this day and age genetic testing is widely available and relatively inexpensive, so you are able to find out if you share a parent or not.

Why is drinking lots of water good for you and how much a day should I try to drink?
|
|
Discuss this question

| Question found in Fitness & Wellbeing |
 |
On the average, a person should drink eight 8-ounce glasses every day. That's about 2 quarts. However, the overweight person needs one additional glass for every 25 pounds of excess weight. The amount you drink also should be increased if you exercise briskly or if the weather is hot and dry. Water should preferably be cold - it's absorbed into the system more quickly than warm water. And some evidence suggests that drinking cold water can actually help burn calories. When the body gets the water it needs to function optimally, its fluids are perfectly balanced.
So, yes it is good for you.
There is an outside chance of flooding your system by drinking too much water - the Leah Betts case official inquest determined that her death was not directly due to ecstasy consumption, but rather the large quantity of water she had consumed, apparently in observation of an advisory warning commonly given to ravers to drink water to avoid dehydration. Betts had consumed about 7 litres (1.85 gal.) in less than 90 minutes, resulting in water intoxication and hyponatremia (a dilution of the blood, disrupting sodium levels), which in turn led to serious swelling of the brain (cerebral edema), irreparably damaging it.

Is it safe to take vicodin while being pregnant?
|
|
Discuss this question
|
| Question found in Pregnancy |
 |
No. The effects of Vicodin in pregnancy have not been adequately studied. Do not take this drug if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant unless you are directed to do so by your doctor. Drug dependence occurs in newborns when the mother has taken this drug regularly prior to delivery. If you take it shortly before delivery, the baby's breathing may be slowed. Acetaminophen does, and hydrocodone may, appear in breast milk and could affect a nursing infant. If this medication is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding your baby until your treatment is finished.

What are the symptoms of lung cancer?
|
|
Discuss this question
|
| Question found in Personal Health Issues |
 |
Symptoms can be symptomatic of a number of diseases and conditions and you need to get a physician to examine and diagnose but ....
The symptoms of lung cancer include: a chronic cough ,worsening breathlessness, weight loss, excessive fatigue, persistent pain in the chest or elsewhere, (possibly from the cancer spreading to a bone).
symptoms can be due to the original tumour in the lung or to the effects of secondary tumours elsewhere in the body.
one of the most significant symptoms of lung cancer is coughing up blood or haemoptysis. This can sometimes occur as an early warning sign of a cancer which may still be curable. Any person who coughs up blood should see their GP for advice urgently as lung cancer must be considered, particularly if the person is a smoker over the age of 40.

My mom has emphysema and copd and refuses to stop smoking. Two packs a day, is she going to die, what can I do?
|
|
Discuss this question
|
| Question found in Women's Health |
 |
Your mother will have already been told when diagnosed with emphysema and copd or the harm her smoking is doing to her, and how extreme those conditions are, how life threatening.
She's still choosing not to give up, all you can do is try to prepare her for what's going to happen. Maybe suggest planning her funeral, actually sit down and discuss with her what songs she wants, what prayers. Ask about a will - who she wants to have what. Maybe too make a video message for people to see after she dies, get her to explain to children, grandchildren, partner, parents and friends just why continuing smoking was more important to her than continuing her life.
Harsh? Yes. So is the reality she's denying.
