How will I know when my cat is ready to give birth?

Discuss this question

Question found in Cats
Hi There,

Your cat knows exactly what to do and does not need any assistance! When she is ready to give birth, she will find a quiet, undisturbed spot (maybe under a chair) and will quietly get on with the job of having her kittens. The first you'll know is when you hear them meowing!

Does my dog have ringworm?

Discuss this question

Question found in Dogs In General
Hi There,

Ringworm looks like a round area of hair loss on your dog that can be scaly and reddened or just roughened. The two most common types of ringworm in dogs and cats are Microsporum canis and Microsporum gypseum. Human can catch ringworm, so you need to buy a treatment from your pet shop right away if you think your dog is infected.

What is a multiple travel agent? And what are the advantages and disadvantages to owning a multiple travel Agent?

Discuss this question

Question found in Tourism & Travel
Hi There,

A multiple is a travel agent with more than 100 high street outlets (as distinct from a miniple which has less than 100 shops).

The advantage is one of economies of scale - you can buy in bulk and hence more cheaply, so your profit margin is higher. The disadvantage is keeping up high standards and uniform quality across so many branches, where there will inevitably be a high staff turnover, with a constant need for recruitment and training of new staff which will push costs up. Another disadvantage is that it is at the high end of the market among the multiple chains where competition is hottest and where a single miscalculation over airline seats or this year's fashionable holiday destination can cost you millions!

My Bengal kitten of 12 weeks bites from morning till night. Only when

she sleeps can you stroke and touch her.

I have had cats before, including Siamese, but this type is a new one on me.

I bought her from an inexperienced amateur breeder and she says she will grow out of it as has her other kittens in the past!!

I am trying the water treatment. Sometimes, when being held, without

provocation, she suddenly bites and scratches to communicate her displeasure.

They are such interesting and gorgeous looking cats and I so wish to have

a normal relationship with her.

Question found in Cats
Hi Sonia,

They are beautiful cats aren't they? Do you know how many generations your kitten is removed from its wild ancestor? I ask because the experts say that it should be at least 4 generations to be sure of a tame kitten. They recommend that 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation kittens should be left to breeders to manage as they may still exhibit wild behaviour. I wonder if that is what is happening with your kitten?

Hi There,

Although telescopes had been invented before, it was Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei who first observed that the planet Jupiter has moons orbiting around it and deduced that the earth must orbit around the sun in the same way.

I have been dating someone for three months. When it got intimate I asked that he not see anyone else. He said I would know when it was over and tell me before doing so. I found out he made a date to see someone and did so behind my back. He was mad I found out and assured me nothing happened but also told me that he owes me nothing, this relationship is too new for me to make demands. I feel now like I cannot trust him am I wrong or right?

Discuss this question

Question found in Intimate Relationships
Hi There,

You are quite right - you can't trust him. You made a reasonable request - that he not see anyone else - and he told you he would let you know. But he didn't. He lied to you. It also sounds very much as though he lied again to protect himself when you found him out. It sounds as though your boy friend is thinking only of himself. To say that you cannot make demands because the relationship is too young is nonsense. Either you have a relationship or you don't. If you do, then it's reasonable for you to demand fidelity. If he cannot remain faithful now, he never will. In your place I would dump him as quickly as possible and have nothing to do with him when he begs you to take him back (which he certainly will).

What was life like in the trenches?

Discuss this question

Question found in WW1
Hi There,

Life in the trenches was pretty horrible. At the 'hottest' spots, troops were expected to spend only two weeks in the trenches before being relieved because it was so dangerous and stressful. In winter, the trenches were flooded so soldiers feet were permanently wet and they developed "trench foot". All year round, soldiers had to contend with lice which infested their clothing and bodies and rats, which feasted on the dead bodies of men and horses.

At Vimy ridge, the lines were only 15 metres apart - close enough for the men on both sides to see each other's faces and hear each other's voices. When a new contingent arrived - whether British or German - the first thing they did was to toss gifts over to the opposing trenches - cigarettes, beer, wine, sausages etc. These gifts meant "We won't start anything if you don't"!

Can fat loss resulting from physical exercise increase cholesterol levels?

Discuss this question

Question found in Fitness & Wellbeing
Hi There,

As you probably know, there is 'bad' cholesterol (LDL) and 'good' cholesterol (HDL). Cholesterol is made by your liver and transported around the body in your bloodstream. Excess 'bad' cholesterol can be made by your liver in response to eating high levels of saturated fats. However, I'm not aware of any mechanism by which taking physical exercise would cause your liver to produce too much 'bad' cholesterol.
