Can I see my God?

Discuss this question

Question found in Spirituality In General
1. We can see our God when we are liberated from the material body, at death, and meet Him in heaven.
2. God is a being of spirit - not of material substance. The eyes in our physical body can perceive only material substances. Hence it is not possible to see God physically. The reported cases of 'visions' are mental or spiritual experiences and not physical perceptions.
3. 'I' can see 'my God' if that 'I' is the true self of the person, the soul, not the body. During one's life-time on earth even one can get to the sublime state of 'liberation' through total detachment to material things and total surrender to Him. In that state you are one with God and you can see God through the eyes of your spirit.

Why do I get nervous?

Discuss this question

Question found in Psychology
Being nervous or anxious is due to a feeling of insecurity - lack of self-confidence, all due to some problem of childhood.
To overcome such feelings there may be several ways. What I suggest as the most effective is a spiritual rather than a psychological solution. (May be both are the same.) Deep faith accompanied with the conviction that "the All powerful God, my Father (or Mother) is with me from now on. So I have no cause to worry anymore." Leave all your problems in life, all your worries in his hands and you will feel secure. No more nervousness, no worry, no anxiety. You can enjoy self confidence, peace and joy in life.

Apart from Indian society which other society in the world is caste based?

Discuss this question

Question found in Religion & Spirituality In General
Many societies had a system where there were two, three or more 'classes' of people, some with high privileges exploiting others and others, underprivileged and exploited. Some instances are given here:
1. European feudal system where the lords, dukes or earls - the aristocracy - exploited the peasants or the serfs. The French revolution and the Bolshevic revolution were reaction to these.
2. The apartheid system in South Africa was one of the worst systems of class distinction where the native Africans had no rights at all, the migrant working class of Indians and the coloured people were a bit better off than the Africans.
3. In the United States, even after the abolition of slavery the class distinction that was practiced in truth was also worse than the caste system. The work of leaders like Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy helped to alleviate the problem to a great extent.

Is there degrees or type of sins in the Holy Bible? If so, give ref: please

Discuss this question

Question found in Religion & Spirituality In General
Some churches speak of mortal and venial sin. This may be based on the first letter of John (1 John. 5: 16 -17)
Some churches teach of two kinds of sins - one they call sin and the other debt. Here sin is breaking any of the Ten Commandments _ from God - and the debt is not obeying the laws of the church - like attending mass every Sunday, fasting or abstinence in certain periods of the year.
Jesus speaks of sin against the Holy Spirit as something very different from other sins. ( Mt. 12: 31)

Which is effective method of learning - learning by sharing views or contradicting views?

Discuss this question

Question found in Student Studies & Student Life
Both have their uses. Sharing is useful in the sense that one gives the other the information at his disposal. Sharing views in the sense of agreeing to whatever one says is not helpful as a learning process. Contradiction, as debate, discussing the pros and cons of an issue is a good learning method. Contradiction as arguments for arguments sake or out of blind prejudice is not helpful.

What is your definition of God?

Discuss this question

Question found in Spirituality In General
Let me first give you my picture of God. It is as follows.
Picture an ocean of infinite dimensions. Going up you never reach the top. Going down you never reach the bottom. Going in any direction you never reach a frontier - fathomless, endless, infinite. This ocean is not of water, not of matter, just a vacuum state. But this vacuum is not nothingness. It is the fullness of Being.
This is the absolute Truth that existed before time - before the beginning. This is the Infinite Goodness that exists now.
This is the Perfect Beauty that will always be there.
Everything else - matter and energy, space and time, life and death - are relative, ephemeral, transient.
God alone is Absolute reality.

At the beginning of time a tiny bubble of matter was conceived in this ocean of Vacuum State. This bubble did not burst. It is nurtured and is developing in the same Ocean. This bubble is the cosmos with earth and all of us in it.

In Buddhism this Ocean is called Sunyatha. In Cosmology it is called the vacuum state. I call it Almighty.
