Can something(matter) be created out of nothing?

| Question found in Science In General |
The word create as opposed to make implies something out of nothing. The answer to the question, can humans - modern technology - make something out of nothing, is a clear NO.
If you are referring to the creation of our universe, two answers can be given. One: The matter of the universe - singularity - came out of something. Buddhism calls it Sunyatha; otherbelievers call it God; some cosmologists call it Vacuum state.
Two: The matter that make up the present universe was created out of nothing by God, the Creator. Since science has not found so far any other explanation for the appearance of the primordial matter at singularity whose inflation and further expansion resulted in the universe, we have all the reasons to believe that this is the truth.

What are the arguments for the existence of gravitons?
Discuss this question
| Question found in Space & Astronomy |
Gravitons are still imaginary particles of gravitational energy as photons are particles of light energy.
Existence of gravitons is still only a possibility. No evidence. Once they are detected the great dream of scientists, the grand unified theory unifying the quantum mechanics and the general relativity or cosmology will be achieved.
Only argument in favour is Einsteins predictions.

Tantrums are normally attention-seeking tactics. The best way to approach the issue is by reconsidering the relationship.
1. He (she?) needs more of your attention and time or the individual attention of someone who is loving not of a day care center.
2. Do not scold. at the tantrums laugh at them or join in. After the tantrum give him a big hug and kiss and show more love.
3. Smother him/her with love and affection.
4. Join him in creative activities or games - building blocks, jigsaws etc of his age.
5. Remember what a child needs more than food or clothes from the parents is love, affection, time and attention.

Why are humans in different parts of the world not equally effected by UV-B radiation?
Discuss this question
| Question found in Science In General |
Two answers:
1. In the southern hemisphere closer to the poles there is greater exposure to the UV rays due to the hole in the ozone layer that is widening above the southern pole. Ozone layer is a kind of blanket that keeps off the UV rays as well as many other harmful radiations and charged particles.
2. In the same region people with different skin coloration will be affected differently. This is because the darker the skin, the greater the amount of the chemical menalin present in the skin. This is the substance that give protection from the bad effects of u v radiation.

How do I broaden my knowledge of Geography?
Discuss this question
| Question found in Education In General |
Geography has different branches. Generally what we understand is knowing where is what? - location of countries, cities, places in general, with a sense of the directions of the compass. To improve this kind of geography the best way is to study maps. Familiarize yourself with the world map, maps of the continents, of regions and so on. I have found it very interesting. Most libraries have huge atlases with such maps. The Readers Digest atlas is one of the best.
Good luck.

What happens to your body if you don't eat?
Discuss this question
| Question found in Biology |
The answer very much depends on the period in question as well as the type of fasting - I mean the attitude of the person.
I know a certain person of about 35 years, of normal health and build, stayed 40 days and night without any food. All he had was water and he used, he claims, solar energy - he used to stay on the open terrace and have sunbath during these days. He came out intact though he lost some weight. In this case the religious attitude and self confidence helped. Most people would have to be hospitalised before 20 days.

Explain evolution verses creationism?
Discuss this question
| Question found in Religion & Spirituality In General |
People the world over believed that God created the universe and everything in it. The Jewish holy book, Genesis which is also now the first book of the Christian Bible, presents a creation story in which the the whole process of creation is done in just six days. Some even calculated that the creation took place some 5000 or so years ago.
A few centuries back Darwin proposed the idea of evolution - biological evolution. Today according to science, the time interval from the first appearance of life to the appearance of modern man is a few billion years. In cosmology of today we learn that from the origin of the universe to the origin of man it took some 13 billion years.
Some people stick to one of these views fanatically and claim that the other is wrong. These are usually called the creationists or the evolutionists. Our knowledge will be complete only when you have a balances view of both science and religion. Science has not explained, nor can it ever explain the origin of the universe or the appearance of life. a SCIENTIST SAID RECENTLY THAT SOON WE SHALL BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN THE ORIGIN OF THE UNIVERSE ACCORDING TO THE LAWS OF PHYSICS. tHEN HE ASKS. "BUT WHERE DO THE LAWS OF PHYSICS COME FROM? wE ARE A LONG WAY FROM ANSWERING THAT" At the same time evolution is fact. THERE WAS COSMIC EVOLUTION, CHEMICAL EVOLUTION AND BIOLOGICAL EVOLUTION.
A rational view to be taken could be put like this: EVOLUTION IS THE CONTINUING ACT OF CREATION. IN THE BEGINING GOD CREATED THE UNIVERSE. THEN THERE WAS COSMIC AND CHEMICAL EVOLUTION. aT THE PEAK OF CHEMICAL EVOLUTION LIFE WAS CREATED. MOST SCIENTISTS NOW AGREE THAT LIFE, THE DNA, IS TOO COMPLEX TO HAVE APPEARED BY MERE CHANCE. At the peak of biological evolution the human soul was created.
