Is it true that a giant explosion inside a black hole will destroy/weaken it?

Discuss this question

Question found in Space & Astronomy
Though we know that black holes exixt we do not know much about what goes on in these. This is due to their very nature - secretive. Nolight, no information comes out of them.
Think of a black hole as a super - mega - star. Mater in it is very dense due to the extreme gravity. So the question of explosions in it seems irrelevant. Even if giant explosions happen we wont know about them and they wonr have catastropic effects.

Explain the significance of very heavy elements in our Sun and the Earth.

Discuss this question

Question found in Space & Astronomy
The metals uranium and plutonium are used in nuclear energy. Many like Gold, platinum, lead, mercury, iodine and the like have functions in commerce and industry and many of them are necessary in slight traces in our bodies - essential for our life or metabolism.

The real significance of the heavy elements is the fact that they are so rare in our universe. The first generation stars produced only the light elements like carbon and oxygen by the nuclear fusion process going on in stars. The second generation stars have produced even heavier elements - the light metals. The massive new generation stars could produce even heavier metals. But according to most scientists the nuclear fusion process in even the largest of stars is not likely to produce the very heavy elements like uranium. They attribute the formation of these to rare occurrences like neutron star collisions.

Since some of these very heavy elements are necessary for our existence, the fact that these elements were present at the spot where our earth was formed is considered to be very significant - like an act of providence. This is one of the facts that supports the view that evolution - cosmic and biologic - is a continuing act of creation.
