How do people sell their souls to the devil?

Discuss this question

Question found in Religion & Spirituality In General
Before answering the question of HOW may be we should consider the question WHY.
People sell their souls to the devil for worldly pleasures especially wealth. Power and sex are some of the other factors. Such people feel that by serving mamon, by becoming rich they can have all they want and they want a lot. But happiness and peace do not come into that list. They can have only pleasures of the world.
How they do it?
1. They deny the existence of God or pretend that there is no God.
2. Most people become disciples of some one who teach such evil ways and promise wealth and prosperity if they follow secretly their teachings.
3. Following the directions of such masters they do many things that the religion of their forbid.
4. One such instance is black mass where they do and say things insulting Jesus, insulting God, insulting mother Mary.
5. They insult the Holy Eucharist.

These are some of the ways they sell their souls to the devil.

Anyone who is prepared to do anything, cheat others, or even kill others to increase their wealth are in the class of those who have sold their souls to the devil.

Just to say to, as an Atheist, I'd argue there is a very wide gap between "Denying the existence of God" and "Selling your soul to the devil"... But as is my style, I'll argue the point with the assumption that I'm wrong and God does exist. Anyway, to start with if I'm saying I don't believe in God then how could I possibly believe in the Devil anyway? Why would I sell my soul to something I don't believe in? If simply denying God is enough even without wanting to sell your soul then I've gotten a pretty raw deal, as I've neither gained power or wealth in any real measure, nor particularly desire it anyway.

Looking at it that way, I've given away something I didn't think I had, to something I don't think exists, to gain some things that I don't want and have not received, without even choosing to do so. As someone who tries to lead a good and moral life, no matter what way you think about that, I've been pretty cheated! Indeed, with about 33% of the Earth's population being Christian, shouldn't they be a downtrodden people compared to the 67% percent who deny His existence and have been granted wealth and power from Satan? Or are so many people getting ripped off? Although then again, I guess he is Satan, it would fit for him not to actual grant what he's supposed to.

And doesn't this mess up the idea of people finding God and being saved? If the two options are "believe in God" or "sell your soul to Satan", then it's too late... anyone who has ever not believed (and for the moment, we'll assume everyone is born with belief just to make this slightly less horrifying) has no soul to save, they already gave it away. Your statement, if correct, has condemned every born-again Christian, everyone who hasn't yet heard the word, anyone who has strayed from the path for any length of time, to fire and brimstone... Unless Satan has a very open "returns policy", in which case what's the negative part to selling your soul?

Let him hang onto it for a couple of years, grab the money and store it up, then realise the error of your ways and live your life in harmony and peace and with a stock of ready cash in the bank. After all, people choose whether to believe or not, so it really is that simple, yes? Unless people DON'T choose to believe, in which case my soul has been condemned due to a belief that I simply cannot have. I am an atheist, I can't change this, and for this my soul has been turned over to the prince of darkness? And this is the system put in place by a wise, just, and kind God?

Which leaves us with two possibilities; either you're wrong on this point, and denying the existence of God is not a method of selling your soul, or God is far from the benevolent, loving figure he is said to be. I prefer to believe the former. While you may as a believer argue that I am not yet saved, that is a far cry from actively selling my soul. If I have one, it's still mine, and if God exists may he be merciful when deciding what to do with it.

I agree with Adrian wood that an atheist who denies the existence of God also denies the existence of the devil. So let me withdraw no. 1 of the list of HOW.

But I must point out one big flaw in his discussion. This is his statement that 33% of the world population are Christians and 67% are atheists. If you take a rough estimate of the number of atheists in the world we may note that about 90% of the atheists belong to the 33%, the so called Christians. Among Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and so on there are very few atheists if there are any.

The actual number of devil worshipers or those who sell their souls to the devil could be very very small - almost negligible on a world scale.

I didn't say that 67% of the worlds population are atheist, just that they weren't Christian. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Worldwide_percentage_of_Adherents_by_Religion.png

You say that 99% of the atheists come from the christians, but that makes no sense; by definition a christian believe in the christian God, and by definition an atheist believes in no god. So 0% of christians are atheists, 0% of atheists are christians. The same applies to any other denomination that believe in a God figure or similar. This gives us 67% of the populace who don't believe in the christian god or devil.

Please tell me that till now in history which theory is most valid about creation of universe?

Discuss this question

Question found in Space & Astronomy
Validity is something that cannot be ascribed to any of the theories in this regard. We can say, the most popular one is the big bang theory. A much more sophisticated one, the string theory and another one called the M theory ( also known as the super-string theory are in vogue for the past few years. but many scientists are vary of it and so far there is no evidence to validate their worth.

Comments :
Allah bless you for this service. I also not need absolute knowledge but a platform to proceed my knowing further from present arrival of thinkers. will you please tell me that how much possibility of truthness is in these both theories.

There are no proofs for these theories. Scientists are trying hard to find an answer to the question of the origin of the universe; how all this came to being, how it all began. But so far no success. Once they solve one puzzle two new puzzles turn up. In my personal opinion there is enough evidence as of now to prove that the so called big bang or the origin was a very intelligent, highly scientific act of creation by an almighty Creator. But once that is accepted it is no more science but it becomes religion.

The best the cosmologists except today is to be able to explain the origin in terms of the laws of physics. But then the question arises; "where did the laws of physics come from?"

If you are more interested in the subject please see the articles in this forum (Click on 'view all articles' on the right hand side of the home page.) The articles on cosmology , evolution etc. may interest you. Also the one "Afdam and Eve"

Tell me the difference of a week from a month?

Discuss this question

Question found in Education In General
A week is 7 days while a month is 28 to 31 days. In some calenders some months have 32 days.

Time measures like month, week year are based on the moon and the sun.
One month was originally the time of one lunar cycle. Say from one full moon to the next full moon. This is usually 28 days. A week is a quarter of that.

Usually 12 months make a year, time taken by earth to complete one revolution.

What are all the steps you do to become a saved Christian and in what order do you do these steps? Please give references.

Discuss this question

Question found in Bible Studies
How to be a Saved Christian

Step One: Invitation to Holiness
Turn back to God and believe the Good News! (Mk 1: 15)
Turn back to God = repent = make a sincere decision to leave the ways of the world and begin the spiritual journey leading to God.
To believe in the Good News = to live according to the teachings of Jesus; especially the Sermon on the Mount (Mt. 5,6,7)
Step Two: Love One Another
I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. (Jn. 13: 33-35)
Love one another = love everyone, even enemies
As I have loved you = selfless, self giving love. Not as a commodity for trade or profit. Not lust
Step Three: Be like a child
I assure you that unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. (Mt. 18: 3)
Be like a child = Trust the Father in heaven in everything as a small child trusts its father or mother. No worry of the future
Step Four: Be Poor
Blessed are you who are poor; the Kingdom of God is yours. (Luke. 6: 20)
If you want to be perfect, sell everything you have; then come and follow me. (Mt. 19: 21)
Do not live to make money; make money to live and to give. Non attachment to material possessions is essential. You cannot serve God and mammon both.
Step Five: Self Realization
God created humans in His image, like Himself. Gen. 1: 26, 27
This is the awareness that I am not one of the animals; I am a child of Godrothers and sisters; that every other human are children of God and thus myb
Step Six: Preach
Teach them (all nations) to observe everything I have taught you. (Mt. 28: 18 20)
Once you have become a true Christian, disciple of Christ, it becomes our duty to sow the path to others by our acions (life example) as well as by words.

What is conduction?

Discuss this question

Question found in Education In General
Conduction is the means of heat transfer (of heat travelling) in solids, passing from particle to particle.

The other two means are convection and radiation.
Convection is in fluids by the actual movement of heated particles.
Radiation is the passage of energy (heat) through space without requiring a medium,

What is a black hole?

Discuss this question

Question found in Space & Astronomy
Black hole is made of matter such an immense amount of matter that its gravity is so great that nothing, not even light can escape from it. As no light or other forms of radiation are coming from it, it cannot be seen or observed. Its presence is felt by the tremendous gravity that bends light passing through the region where it is present. Most galaxies have black holes usually at the center
Though you cannot see a black hole, you can see some of the fireworks going on near a black hole. As gas falls into a black hole (perhaps coming from a nearby star), the gas will heat up and glow, becoming visible. Typically, not only visible light, but also more energetic photons like X-rays will be emitted by the gas. What we would expect to see (if our telescopes could "zoom-in" enough) would be a glowing rotating disk of material, with the black hole down at the center of the disk.
Gravity of heavy cosmic objects bend the light from objects further ahead. When you notice marked bending of light in an area where no cosmic object is to be 'seen' you can be sure there is a black hole there.
One kind of black holes are remnants of very heavy stars. All stars have limited life span. Our own sun is supposed to be in its middle age about 5 billion years old. During its active life it, a shining star emits tremendous amount of energy by nuclear fusion inside due to the very high temperatures. Once this nuclear fuel is exhausted by the conversion of hydrogen INTO HEAVY ELEMENTS it no more sends out light or other EM radiations. It is then said to be dead. Some turn into white dwarfs, some into neutron stars, and those that are very, very heavy turns into black holes.

Why does gravity exists between any two matter or objects?

Discuss this question

Question found in Science In General
It is all a question of relationship. All matter - from huge stars or black holes, to tiny protons are made up of a few elementary particles. Between all these there are forces. These forces are the work of certain other particles like gluon, meson etc. It is assumed that gravity, the force between heavier particles is also due to a particle called graviton. But to many it seems a far fetched idea. All we know now is that there is such a force, that keeps the various heavenly bodies in their definite orbits or positions and that keeps us on the ground.

In the grand design of the universe this force was so designed by the creator so that the universe could develop into galaxies, stars and planets and that we can safely walk on the surface of the earth without being blown away.

OK. it;s very good answer.
but tell me where graviton exists?
in proton or in neutron?

How many subatomic particles are known except neutron, proton and electron?

Discuss this question

Question found in Science In General
I don't think any one knows exactly how many there are. Some particles like Higg's Boson and graviton are supposed to exist but not yet experimentally proved. But I can mention a few here.

Protons and neutrons are made of three quarks each. These quarks are held together by particles called gluons. Most of the forces between elementary particles are caused by particles like mesons and bosons - several of them - many of them heavier than electrons. Even photon, the quantum of light is considered to be a particle with no mass.
