Is it possible to walk through a rainbow?

Discuss this question

Question found in Physics
I have walked through clouds and passed through rainbows!

On top of a mountain we were once enveloped by cloud. There it looked like mist but from a lower level it was cloud.

In Niagara when we sail on the 'maid of the mist' everyone passes through rainbow. But we cannot see it then only those standing between the sun and the falls can see that we are passing through the rain bow.

Why is the sky blue?

Question found in Science In General
Check Raman effect on googles for detail. An extract from C V Raman's finding is given below.

A short time later Raman was able to show conclusively that the color of the sea was the result of the scattering of sunlight by the water molecules. Ironically, it was exactly the same argument that Rayleigh had invoked when explaining the color of the sky-the blue was the result of the scattering of sunlight by the molecules in the air. Raman was now obsessed with the phenomenon of light scattering. His group in Calcutta began an extensive series of measurements of light scattered primarily by liquids but also by some solids. As a result, Raman was able to explain the blue color observed in the ice of Alpine glaciers.

Discussion:

The Raman effect is very interesting and came about because Mr Raman wanted to explain why the sea was blue or green when the sky was often grey. He later got the Nobel prize and an effect named after him. The effect is in liquids and some solids and is caused by an absorbtion and re-emission of energy that changes the wavelength of a minute part of the light. This does not happen in gasses, however ordinary light scatter explains this nicely.

How do I trust my senses to give me the truth?

Discuss this question

Question found in Science In General
What is truth? To my understanding there is absolute truth and then there is relative truth. Relative truth is what we have here, things subject to our senses. In this matter, we can trust our eyes. We can trust what we see with our own eyes. Not what we hear about (ears) from others. As for absolute truth we cannot tune in to it with any of our physical senses. Here we have to make use of – tune - the spiritual senses.

I am trying to have faith even the size of a mustard seed, but it isn't happening. I pray to God when there is a problem, but otherwise, I find myself vacillating between believing, even a tiny bit, and not. I think that trying to develop a "relationship" with God is private, and lonely. Reading the Bible doesn't interest me, it is a book of stories and parables. What does this seeking mean, and do you think I might ever cross that chasm of uncertainty by taking that leap of faith?

1. The fact that you are feeling this way is a very positive sign and I am sure it won't be far before you get a real God-experience.
2. Jesus said, "Unless you are like little children you shall not enter the Kingdom of heaven". One way to know God better is to be a child. Consider Him as a small child, a toddler considers its mother or father. Feel happy you are in His presence - in His lap. Put absolute trust in Him.
3. Jesus revealed his message to simple, humble, illiterate fisher folk; not to scholars and intellectuals. And he asked them to wait for the Holy Spirit who shall explain the meaning of his teaching. We must read the Bible in the attitude of the disciples listening to Jesus - not as intellectuals but as humble people and wait for the Holy Spirit to instruct us.
4. God is goodness; God is love; God is omnipresent - present everywhere. This Goodness shall flow into you if you keep the 'door' of your heart open and invite this goodness, this love to fill you with. Spend some time alone with your God, in the mornings in your room in private or when you go out for a walk - walk with Him, converse with him. If you feel no response, cry at Him demand explanation on why He is avoiding you. I mean develop that kind of intimate relationship.
5. If the Bible does not appeal to you just start with the sublime teaching of Jesus in the Sermon on the mount - Mathew chapters 5, 6 and 7. Then pass on to other sections of the teachings of Jesus and so on.

Why did Jesus go back to Heaven after rising again?

Discuss this question

Question found in Religion & Spirituality In General

In John’s Gospel Chapter 13 Jesus makes it quite clear that he is saying farewell to the earthly life - that he is going back to his father in heaven. We should not compare the resurrection of Jesus to the raising of Lazarus from the dead. Lazarus continued his life on earth just as if he was healed of an illness. Jesus on the other hand died on the cross. That was the supreme sacrifice in atonement for our sins. If he continued to live on earth it would have not been the same. Jesus had to pay the price by his death.

After his resurrection Jesus did not live with his mother or disciples even for half a day. He just appeared to them on a few occasions. This helped in strengthening their faith and encouraged hem to await the arrival of the Holy Spirit. That is why he went to heaven.

Even in our case, after resurrection we shall not be leading a physical life on earth but a spiritual life in heaven.

I am a 23 year old male and for the last 5-6 years have been deep in love with Michelle.

I cant settle down with anyone else because it always comes back to Michelle that I want to be with.

It has left me confused because she still after all this time is giving me mixed signals and she has a boyfriend who she doesnt get on with.

This situation has led me to be a very heavy drinker to block out the emotions because all I want to do is get on with my life because I have spent a lot of time in hospital and need to move on.

Basically should I tell her the truth and hope for the best or should I just go with the flow and hope for the best?

Any help will be appreciated

Question found in Intimate Relationships
Feeling depressed or disheartened will be of no help to you. Nor will alcohol help to alleviate the problem.

I strongly feel that you must give her one more chance. Approach her in a very friendly way. You must be quite cool and composed - not agitated or forlorn-looking. Have a reasonable talk with her. If you really love her and want to live with her you may propose to marry her. That may clinch the issue to your liking. If you have no intention of marrying her you may as well forget the whole affair.
