Discuss this question
| Question found in Football In General |
The deal put forward by John Batchelor - a bidder for the Mansfield Town in early 2008 - to change the name of the club to Harchester United - the fictional squad from the TV series Dream Team - fell through. He was not the highest bidder and the team is now with 3 businessmen - who also happen to be Mansfield Town Fans. So apparently the name change didnt happen.

What is the meaning of 'Uncle Sam'?
Discuss this question
| Question found in Literature In General |
The word Uncle Sam is used to depict The government of the United States. Uncle Sam is often personified by a representation of a tall, thin man having a white beard and wearing a blue tailcoat, red-and-white-striped trousers, and a tall hat with a band of stars. It is apparently believed that this depiction came as a humorous interpretation of the letters stamped on army supply boxes during the War of 1812. Popular belief goes like this - Soldiers based in Troy, New York, who would receive barrels of meat stamped with the initials U.S jokingly started to refer it as the initials of the meat supply, supplier, Uncle Samuel Wilson.
