If a person with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself is this considered a hostage situation?
|
|
Discuss this question
|
| Question found in Alternative In General |
 |
This would be considered a suicidal threat regardless of the personality involved because it involves the death of their mutual host body.
Certainly it is a manipulative tactic. To prevent the threat from being realised, I agree with the above answer.

Do you make doughnuts with plain flour or self raising flour?

| Question found in Cooking |
 |
I definitely use plain flour. I use a recipe with yeast, so the raising agents in self-raising flour aren't necessary.

 |
In a nutshell: There is profit to be made by the phone companies on 1800 calls and they choose to make that profit.
Since Orange SA UK introduced charges for dialling freephone numbers in December 2005, all British mobile networks now charge for calls to freephone numbers, with certain limited exemptions (notably Childline). source

I have a nett sum and want to know the gross before the % was deducted, how do I calculate?
|
|
Discuss this question
|
| Question found in Accountancy/Accounting |
 |
If you know the net amount and you also know the percentage that was deducted, then you can discover the gross amount like this:
1) subtract the percentage from 100.
2) divide the net amount by this number
3) multiply the result by 100
Here's an example.
I just got a check for $920(Net) and I know that I paid a fee of 8%(%) from the original amount(gross) I was supposed to get.
step 1) 100-8 = 92
step 2) 920/92= 10
step 3) 10 * 100= 1000
I started out with $1000.

How do I have a list of names in excel that I want to change color after I use them on the same sheet?

You know, Mr. Peterson, I came up against that same issue a couple of years ago. I wanted to keep a list of everyone I had sent a particular marketing letter to. I made an excel spreadsheet. On each row I entered the information for each contact. By the end I had a couple hundred rows of information.
As I performed a mail merge, I wanted to automatically change the shading of the whole row of information I had just used. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to automate changing the shading of cells by using a formula.
Changing the colour of shading is a nice visual cue. However, it is not an effective one if you plan to use the shading for sorting or filtering your information. If this is your aim, I would suggest that you create a separate column in your spreadsheet and enter a simple '1' when you have used the name. When you want to know which names you have used or which ones you haven't used yet, just use the auto-filter function in excel.
Once auto-filter is turned on, pick the drop down box at the top of your '1' column. If you want to show only the names you have already used, select '1'. If you want to show only the names of those you haven't used, select 'blank'.

What is the fastest growing business franchise in the United States? If someone is interested in starting a business, what is the best way to get some ideas (i.e a TV show, magazine, Internet)

According to the Inc 2006 Top 500 List, coming in at #4 (and the highest ranked franchise in the list) is none other than.....
you guessed it: Edible Arrangements International
I scratched my head a bit when I read this but looking at the figures, it has an incredible amount of growth at 4383% growth.
Story here
There are a myriad of different businesses out there. What kind of business should you get into? that depends very much on what you want to get from the business. I would suggest that you work a lot on defining what you want your lifestyle to be like first. Defining how you want to live your life, what things you want to have, how you want your relationships to be, what choices you want to have the freedom to make, what will really make you feel successful and whole. The answers to these questions will indicate for you what level of income you are going to need to support the lifestyle you envision for yourself. Making a lot of money working 105 hours every week may be appealing to some. Others may find it appealing to work a half hour per week and have the freedom to travel, do charity work or paint on the beach. Whatever it is that you want your life to look like, create that image, burn it into your mind so deeply that you become focused on achieving that outcome.
With that in mind then you can look at business opportunities that may become the vehicle to get you there. In other words, don't let the glitz of a business opportunity sway you away from your overall goal of how you want to live your life. You might need to dig in and do the hard yards first when starting in business, but you might as well do that in a business that can lead you where you want to go.
You will be able to find all kinds of businesses by thumbing through your local telephone directory. Start in the A's. Don't just pass them over because there are a lot of businesses. Ask yourself if you understand how they make a profit. What are the strengths and weaknesses of each? If you were to buy one of them, which would it be and why? Ask yourself lots and lots of questions about these that are so close to you already.
You might look in the local newspaper. Not in the business opportunity section necessarily, but in the job listings. Who is hiring? Who is expanding?
I am convinced that many of the best diamonds are right in your own back yard. Discover how to tell the difference between a good business and a weak one. Learn to see the opportunity present in them.
There are a lot of other resources for ideas. Type "business opportunity" into Google and see how many hits you get. (33,800,000)
Innovation may help you to combine some existing ideas or business services with others and create a unique business. Try randomly mixing ideas to see what ideas you can come up with.
Cheers!
