Stearic acid is a hard saturated fat. It is found naturally in meat, chocolate and margarine's. We've heard that saturated fats are 'bad fats'. This doesn't hold true for stearic acid. According to the US National Dietary Council
Stearic acid (C18:0) has a neutral effect on blood cholesterol levels, whereas other long chain saturated fatty acids such as lauric (C12:0), myristic (C14:0), and palmitic (C16:0) acids increase blood cholesterol levels. Stearic acid may influence CHD risk independently of an effect on blood cholesterol levels (25). Compared to a palmitic acid-rich diet, a stearic acid–rich diet has been shown to have beneficial effects on thrombogenic and atherogenic risk factors (25). source
The little bit of stearic acid in your vitamins may actually be good for you! I wouldn't suggest gnawing on candles though.

In this situation, neither the deaf man nor the blind man are mute. So the deaf man could tell the blind man by speaking.

Jsubu! Good news! What you are going through is absolutely normal for everyone. Here is a bit of a secret though: You don't have to be 100% committed to anything to get started right now.
Think back to this morning as you woke up. There you are in bed... part of you is saying "rest... relax... take it easy here... just a few more minutes and then I'll get up... it's so comfy here, I don't want to get up" However, another part of you is saying "Come on... you know you need to get up to get stuff done... if you sleep in, you'll be late... the boss will be pretty p****d off and you know how you hate it when your boss is grouchy... you've had enough sleep..." Now these two ideas are there at the same time in your head. It's not 100% one or 100% the other. The one who gets to 51% vote is the one that wins. That's the one we actually do. If the first voice wins, we stay in bed. If the second voice wins, we get up and get moving.
It's important to understand that even when one part of us wins the majority vote, the other part still doesn't want to do it. This idea is called 'ambivalence' or 'being of two minds'.
Let's get to your point. How do you get through this and start actually doing some of the things you are thinking about doing?
When we are about to start something different such as a new exercise routine or a change in our diet, we can help the process begin by doing this exercise.
Write down what is good about not changing. What is good about not starting a new exercise program? Start listing those things down. don't feel guilty about them, just write the thoughts down that come up. For example, you could write, "I'd have to change my schedule. I might miss The Simpson's. I might have to get up earlier. If I went to the gym, I'd be the flabbiest one there and everyone would point and laugh..." keep going on this until all of those thoughts are out where you can see them on paper. This is the argument that one side of you has for staying the same and doing nothing.
On another piece of paper, write down all the good things about changing and doing the new thing you are thinking of doing. Put your heart into this part of it and really feel how you will feel when you are doing the new things. Are you going to feel fit and healthy? Will you feel younger? Will you be more confident in yourself? Will you Have fun doing it? Get all of the good things down on the page along with the positive emotions that you will have when you have completed your changes.
Now compare and emphasize the positives. Decide which is going to win 51% of the vote. Start off and begin taking action on that. Don't worry that you are still in two minds. Even if you slip and go back to the way you were before for a bit. That happens to us all. Just get that vote above 51% and take action again until you feel the good changes happening that you want to have happen. As you do, you'll be increasing the vote higher and higher on the positive side until you are pretty firmly of one mind.
Good luck in beginning your changes!
Cheers!

The emoticons are listed as .dat files, simply change them back to their original extension, (ie: .gif or .png) to view.

What is interactive visual merchandising?
|
|
Discuss this question
|
| Question found in Business & Economy In General |
 |
Interactive visual merchandising is used frequently in cosmetics merchandising.
A certain brand of cosmetics had a stand-alone computer in a shopping center with a touch-screen. The customer answers questions about skin tone, eye colour, hair colour, oily/dry skin, etc. The prompts on the computer are all very visual giving examples of each selection in colour. Upon answering the questions a selection of cosmetics are specifically recommended to that customer. Ranges of colour are displayed on screen and the customer can mix and match a variety of complimentary products and colours. This particular computer even printed out a shopping list and suggested a daily routine to follow.
This is one example of how interactive visual merchandising works. I am certain there are adaptations for many different products. The concept is to get the customer involved and have their input relayed back to them in a visual format that encourages them to purchase the product being merchandised.

Many people have faced a situation just like yours Gamb1t.
You hope for something to come from a relationship with your friend.
Fear holds people back from taking that step and expressing themselves. No one really wants to feel rejected or hurt. I don't think you are an exception to this. What is the worst that could happen? Really. Write those things down.
Make a list. Force yourself to do it even if it is scary.
Done?
Good. Now breathe a sigh of relief. Now comes the good part! Write down all the wonderful and fantastic things that could happen by your expressing yourself to her. Go ahead and list page after page if you can think of them.
Compare the two lists. You know that you could end up feeling the stuff on the negative page. It's true. There's a risk. Are you willing to take the risk and tell her how you feel so that you have the possibility of feeling all the good stuff you wrote on the other list? If so, go for it!
No cord or cable can draw so forcibly, or bind so fast, as love can do with a single thread.

How do you remove ink stains from fabric?
|
|
Discuss this question
|
| Question found in Miscellaneous |
 |
Milk removes ballpoint pen ink from fabrics. Take full cream milk right from the fridge and soak the item in the milk for a few minutes. Rub the fabric together to lift the stain as it becomes dissolved by enzymes in the milk. Rinse in cold water by hand. Repeat with a fresh glop of milk if needed. Then, when you have removed all you can using milk, you can try other stain removers like spray and wash. Pop it in the washing machine in cold water with your normal detergent and voila!
It is really important not to wash an ink stain in hot water because the heat sets the stain in the fabric.
The natural enzymes in milk do a great job of breaking up ink. Give it a go!

How do I prove to my boyfriend that I am not cheating?
|
|
Discuss this question
|
| Question found in Intimate Relationships |
 |
Excellent question Lucie.
I agree with Beansmom that there is no reason (and honestly no way) to prove that you haven't cheated.
The true problem is in your boyfriend's belief that you have cheated.
The decision to be together with another person is a choice. It's a choice that each of us makes every moment of every day. Even when there is a ring on the finger, nice photos framed on the wall and a certificate of marriage in the scrapbook. Regardless of all that, each moment we are free to make the choice to be or not be with that person. Remember, they are also free to choose.
The mere fact of being together with that person at that moment is in itself proof of that choice you are making. You don't have to be with him. You are with him because you want to be with him.
Some people may have real challenges inside themselves. Trusting others may be so hard that they find it easier to blame, accuse and try to shift that inability onto someone else. To them, it must be someone else's fault. In all honesty, it still comes down to their own ability to trust.
What if you decide today that you want to be with someone else? Do you both trust each other enough to be able to tell each other that? Would you thank each other for the wonderful experiences and love that you have shared together? Would you wish the very best the world has to offer for each other?
Would you still love each other regardless of the decision you have each made?
The relationship where this becomes possible is one where there is the deepest level of trust. Nothing hidden. No sneaking around and hoping no one finds out. No accusations, no blame. Just an open and honest desire to see each other grow into the best person each can be, whoever that may be.
Ask yourself, "Is my boyfriend capable of telling me his darkest secret, believing I will never use it against him?" And ask yourself, "Am I able to tell him my darkest secret and know he will not use it against me?" If he uses made-up things against you, I would think that it would be difficult to trust him with real things.
In that case, it's so much better to leave and find another who does have that quality.
Cheers!
