I have been looking after my friends cat for a couple of weeks while she went away. I have just found out she wont be coming back and there is no way I can look after the cat as I am a single mum and would not have the funds to look after it. How do I go about looking for shelters and what ones are the best?

Discuss this question

Question found in Cats
I don't know which country you are in but in the UK I would contact the RSPCA or Cats Protection for a list of local shelters. If you take the cat yourself have a good look at the kennels and ask them about there re homing checks. If you at all worried don't hesitate to take the cat back home and try somewhere else.

I've been dating a girl I care a lot about for the last 6 months. We seem to be a good match except that she has recently been displaying a lot of issues with my career (military). I've tried to find common ground with her on the issue but she holds strong opinions on the subject. Any advice on how to proceed here?

Discuss this question

Question found in Dating
I take it you have decided to stay in the military and probably have more years to serve. So really she has no choice but to respect that if she stays with you. When your service comes up for renewal you will have to discuss it again or maybe find out now what her opinions are about you staying in the military after your time is up. Would you leave for her then? This needs to be sorted out now before you commit to each other.

How can I trace the history of my house?

Discuss this question

Question found in Home & Garden In General
Well the first step would be to get a copy of your deeds, if its with a solicitor or your bank they will copy them for you but will charge. Look in local history at your library for photo's of your street and maybe older references if your house is very old. Most places have a local history society or if not there will be one for your county.

Do the Irish really eat cabbage and corned beef?

Discuss this question

Question found in Food And Drink In General
No they definitely don't. This dish was invented in USA. Corned beef only came over here in WW2.
The Irish dish would have been pork and cabbage probably belly. So on St Patrick's day look on the net for some genuine Irish recipes from Ireland.
