What happens to us when we die?

Firstly you didn’t mention anything about a particular circumstance of death or religious belief on or after death so from that I assume you are generally talking in a materialistic way meaning that fundamentally, all things ( human body ) are composed of 'material'.
On one level, the answer is simple. At some time for what can be various reasons, our complex bio-physical organism will break down. The breathing will stop, the heartbeat will cease, and gradually our body temperature will fall. After a while, the body will go stiff and start to decay. Eventually it will be burned or buried and basically that will be that! I suspect your question is more complex than that though and is one that millions of different people the world over can answer with a different light as to what happens after that. But perhaps there is more to us than just our physical bodies. Many people believe that there is something that survives the death of the physical body, a soul and at death the soul withdraws and continues to function and goes to another place or being. Again these variants are to many to mention but if it works for you then believe in it !!!

Why are dart board numbers arranged as they are?
|
|

| Question found in Miscellaneous |
 |
|
The dartboard arrangement is a fairly peculiar one, much like the QWERTY setting on a keyboard. The answer is actually similar to why the settings on a keyboard are as they are. The QWERTY setting was intended to slow typists down because when in the days of typewriters that women wrote the letters due to go to families from the army etc, they typed too fast - thus jamming the keys. So, this new system was made to slow it down. In a way, this is similar to why dartboards are arranged as they are. Say for example, if the board went 1 2 3 4 5 6 all the way round, to get a "high" number of say 15-20 minimum, it wouldn't be too hard, as you effectively only have a quarter of the board to aim for. The layout of numbers on a dartboard was originally designed by a man called Brian Gamlin, a carpenter from Bury. He made this design in order to make it more difficult and punish mistakes. For example on a dartboard the 1 and 20 are next to each other - a potential 59 point difference for a 2mm miss. This encouraged accuracy in the player's and hence built the skill involved in consistently hitting higher numbers. Mathematicians worked out the "perfect" arrangement for a dartboard, and apparently Gamlin's design was nearly perfect - which is impressive considering that there are 121,645,100,408,832,000 arrangements that can be made.

Why do crustaceans (shrimp, lobsters, ect, turn red when cooked....) is this chemical reaction related to the phenomenon of flamingos turning pink due to diet?
|
|
Discuss this question

| Question found in Food And Drink In General |
 |
|
Its not diet its there make up although some actually don’t, many lobsters, crabs, and shrimp have a variety of different colours present in their shells. The pink or orange colour is already there you just cant see it and is the pigment or astaxanthin, which is similar to the one in carrots. Its molecules are wrapped up in dark colours ( protein chains) and the shells look blackish while alive because the protein chains hide the orange-pink molecules by wrapping around and containing them. When you cook this type of shellfish there is a chemical change and the protein automatically uncoils, or denatures, and in the case of these shellfish, that frees the red pigment and the shell changes colour. It's very similar to autumn leaves changing colour as the red is already there but hiding. In the case of albinos they won’t turn the colours described as the pigments are missing at birth.

A researcher working for a company called 3M, a materials company wanted to make the worlds best and stickiest glue. In actual fact he managed to have an end product which was the world’s worst glue which was a sticky substance that never sticks. This stuff is one of the best things 3M ever invented and is used to make the adhesive strip on post-it notes.
In 1928 Sir Alexander Fleming was culturing bacteria before he was due to go on holiday, he was in a rush and in his haste he left the lid off the dish of a sample he was working with, when he returned a mould had killed the bacteria in the same dish. He had accidentally discovered the antibiotic penicillin although it did take 10 years for scientists to extract the penicillin from the bacteria.
In 1899 Charles H. Duell was the Commissioner of the US. Patent Office and he wanted to close down the patent office. His famous saying is “Everything that can be invented has been invented”. Think about it that in itself was an accident wasn’t it ??

Madonna’s new hit song is called "HUNG UP" and is featured on her new album 'Confessions On A Dance floor' and already found its way onto the internet a week before its official release date of 07/11/05 and here are the lyrics …Time goes by so slowly (6x)
Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you
Time goes by so slowly for those who wait
No time to hesitate
Those who run seem to have all the fun
I'm caught up
I don't know what to do
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
I don't know what to do
Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you
Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you
Ring ring ring goes the telephone
The lights are on but there's no-one home
Tick tick tock it's a quarter to two
And I'm done
I'm hanging up on you
I can't keep on waiting for you
I know that you're still hesitating
Don't cry for me
'cause I'll find my way
You'll wake up one day
But it'll be too late
Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you
Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you
Every little thing, every little thing
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call, waiting for your call
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you
Time goes by so slowly (4x)
So slowly (14x)
I don't know what to do
Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you
Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you
Every little thing, every little thing
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call, waiting for your call
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you

Is it legal to stop someone in a unmarked police car in New York State?
|
|
Discuss this question
|
| Question found in Miscellaneous |
 |
|
Hmmm bit of a grey area this one although based on my knowledge I would have to say it is legal. The New York State Police never use unmarked patrol cars for routine traffic stops., but even in New York State many other municipal police agencies still do and have not yet adopted this policy. All said and done I personally would be hesitant to stop if asked to do so by an unmarked police car in New York unless I was in a well lit, well built and busy people area.
