Do cockroaches cause some diseases?

Discuss this question

Question found in Animals & Nature
Cockroaches are potential vectors of diseases such as dysentery, gastroenteritis, typhoid and poliomyelitis. Their diet is omnivorous and includes fermenting substances, soiled septic dressings, hair, leather, parchment, wallpaper, faeces and food for human consumption. The latter may be contaminated either by the mechanical transfer of causative agents of disease from the insect’s body, or by transmission in the faeces. An outbreak of food poisoning in a Brussels hospital subsided immediately an infestation of B. germanica was controlled.

I bought a car recently. I just found out that the heater does not work. It is an 800.00 part that needs replaced. Of course the part is not covered in my warranty. The dealership will not even return my calls. What can I do?

Discuss this question

Question found in Legal Other
If you took it to the dealership for repair, regardless of the "as is" statement, you are more than likely going to pay too much in "genuine" parts and especially labor anyway. The high prices sometimes acts as a deterrent for some of the other work that they prefer not to do. Don't be intimidated by anyone when you need a repair. Ask any questions you need answered no matter how silly you think they are. Nobody expects you to be a mechanic if you are not.

Instead of the dealership, try finding a reputable repair shop by asking your friends and relatives, co-workers, etc. Your local mechanic has to become a friendship with someone who values your business and takes pride and responsibility for their work. A good mechanic always backs up his work.

The local shop sometimes can cut the cost dramatically by using rebuilt parts and lower labor costs. My concern is what kind of car do you buy that has a heater problem so bad that it costs that much? I don't consider myself a mechanic but if it involves the heater core, then surely this would be the most expensive heater repair as far as labor costs. The core itself isn't costly at all. Getting it out and putting another one in can be quite a job, hence, the dealership won't return your calls and offers a high repair estimate.

Remember that if it is a legal problem, it can sometimes get held up for years and your heat can't wait that long. Repair now, fight on your own terms by choosing your battles wisely. Good luck.

What are the types of support or assistance that you might need from others in the workplace?

Discuss this question

Question found in Industrial Relations
It depends on several factors. If you are a leader, (manager, etc.), you are only as strong as the team you have surrounding you. If a co-worker has a problem in an area they are uncomfortable with, then it's up to you to help them overcome their reservations. A good way to look at this would be to get your strongest co-worker with math knowledge to help work out a problem with say, (a concrete form), where the hesitant co-worker may know the dimensions needed but you and your mathematician could show them some examples of how to calculate the amount needed and the cost thereof. I hope this was of help to you.

How to discipline a 5 year old who back talks all the time?

Discuss this question

Question found in Parenting & Family In General
Mine will try to back talk to me after being away for a while. I think his parents allow this at home. When he rarely does it, I ask him in a firm voice and direct stare,"Who do you think you are talking to like that?" or my favorite, " did you forget whom you are speaking to?"........"no sir" he replies. I find that the threat of punishment of any kind works better than the physical punishment itself because he even knows I do not enjoy doing either.

He is 5 and I've probably smacked his butt to get his attention 3 times in his life, all for good reasons. He remembers that I am capable of it without hesitation and that I am verbally reminding him of that experience. He respects me because of our extremely close bond but he knows I won't put up with his tests of aggression towards me or anyone else at all. This also makes me wonder if he is trying this on others as well or learning it from his peers. Regardless, he does understand and he knows I will respect him dearly as long as he does me. Don't be a friend, be a parent.

My husband has been addicted to sex and females since before I met him, he just hid it. The reason I feel unattractive is because of the things he's been doing and lying about. I've tried to talk to him. He hates talking about anything. He doesn't want to hear anything or say anything. He gets mad if I try to talk to him. He's been better since our last blowout, when I found a porno in my bedroom and caught him on the internet. The pornos are not the big problem. It's the lying about them. I've said that I have no problem watching them with him but he still hides them and lies about them. I don't want to give up on us yet, I'm miserable. Now I worry about him lying all the time, how would I know? I never thought he would lie to me in the first place. Please help.

Discuss this question

Question found in Intimate Relationships
Porno at an early age is introduced mostly by peers. Later on it becomes an obsession due to many factors. One of them is that he is uncomfortable about himself, or he is looking for stimulation he can't get otherwise (this is psychological only for him not you) which can be devastating in relationships, or he has been subjected to an environment that has no boundaries and in which he feels this has been widely accepted. This has nothing to do with you, your feeling unattractive, etc., and you need to stop thinking that it does. Yes, he has a problem and no it's not yours to fix. In order for a liar to realize the humiliation of his bad habit, he must catch himself in the act, not you.

All too often families try to avoid a problem either by pretending it does not exist or adding fuel to the fire by justiying it. Both cases are extremely damaging to all family and friends involved. He is not only hurting you. Get away from him if you must. Just be sure that the decision you make is your own and for the right reasons in your heart because all of us seek peace, whether or not we really know it conciously, in our lives. The price we pay for it is immeasurable sometimes but one day you can look back and realize how simple and wise it is. I hope this helps and good luck.
