At one level we learn that atoms are made of protons and neutrons in the nucleus and electrons in the orbit. At this level your question makes sense. At higher levels of physics this concept is modified and we learn that even protons and neutrons are made up of still smaller particles - quarks. Going even further we`learn that all these are bundles of energy. Some of these act as force particles and only a few as matter particles. hence it is possible for electrons to be emitted from nucleus or from protons.
