How to Meditate
How to Meditate
People are very interested in spirituality these days. Many are eager to learn how to meditate. Here is a simple method that we are supposed to know. ‘Go into your room and shut the door. Sit down and with your eyes open, make sure that you are all alone. Close your eyes and make sure that you are not alone. Be aware that the room is filled with a divine presence, the presence of God Our Father. Know that your Guru, Sadguru Jesus is sitting near you, ready to teach you how to pray. Invite the Holy Spirit into your heart to help you to listen to and understand the message of Jesus.’
Following the words of Jesus (Mt. 6: 5 – 15) greet Our Father with words of praise and worship and tell Him how much you love Him and express your thanks for all His blessings and His mercy. Slowly immerse yourself into the peace and joy of this divine presence. Not only the Holy Trinity but the whole of the heavenly hosts are here now with you. Pray for the hastening of the Kingdom of heaven. Pray that, living a life of love according to His will, you may be able to make heaven on earth for yourself and for those around you. You can surely ask for your daily needs like a small child asking its mother or father for its wants. Above all pray earnestly for His grace to avoid all that is evil and for remaining holy.
Jesus discouraged the use of big words or beautiful phrases to attract the attention of God or to impress other people. Here in The Sermon on the Mount, Jesus is teaching us private prayer or personal prayer, a prayer of silence. The words of The Lord’s Prayer are meant to be guide-lines for us to follow in meditation. They are pointers for channeling the sentiments of our heart in prayer. The Father, whom we cannot see, whose words we cannot hear, will be more receptive to the sentiments of our heart than the words of our mouth. Jesus gives due importance to congregational prayers also. He tells us that he will be present wherever we gather in his name.
